Community Guidelines
LIC Women Entrepreneurs (LIC WE) exists to support, connect, and uplift women entrepreneurs in Long Island City and beyond. Our community is built on mutual respect, generosity, and shared growth. By participating in LIC WE events, conversations, and spaces, you agree to uphold the following guidelines.
1. Be Respectful & Inclusive
We welcome women entrepreneurs at all stages—idea-stage, early-stage, and established.
-
Treat all members with kindness, respect, and professionalism
-
Honor diverse backgrounds, identities, industries, and perspectives
-
Discrimination, harassment, or hateful behavior of any kind will not be tolerated
2. Support Over Self-Promotion
LIC WE is a relationship-first community.
-
Share resources, insights, and experiences generously
-
Avoid unsolicited pitching, DM sales, or spam
-
Promotion is welcome only in designated spaces or when explicitly invited
If you’re unsure whether something is appropriate to share, ask first.
3. Practice Confidentiality & Trust
Many conversations in LIC WE are personal and business-sensitive.
-
Do not share private conversations, ideas, or personal details outside the community without permission
-
Respect boundaries around what is “off the record”
4. Engage with Integrity
-
Show up honestly and authentically
-
Credit others for their ideas, work, and contributions
-
Avoid copying, exploiting, or misrepresenting another member’s work
5. Participate with Care & Accountability
-
Listen as much as you speak
-
Be open to learning, feedback, and growth
-
If harm occurs, take responsibility and work toward repair
6. Keep It Constructive
Healthy discussion and differing opinions are welcome.
What’s not welcome:
-
Personal attacks
-
Shaming or dismissive behavior
-
Derailing conversations in bad faith
Disagreement should always be respectful and productive.
7. Community Safety & Moderation
LIC WE reserves the right to:
-
Address behavior privately or publicly as needed
-
Suspend or remove members who repeatedly or seriously violate these standards
Our priority is maintaining a safe, supportive environment for the whole community.
8. Shared Responsibility
This community belongs to all of us.
If you experience or witness behavior that doesn’t align with these guidelines, please reach out to the LIC WE team.
